The 140-cover restaurant and bar will open in April in the building at the junction of Threadneedle Street and Old Broad Street, and will be the company's eighth site in the UK.
Brasserie Blanc director Ian Glyn told BigHospitality that breaking into the capital was a new step for the group: "So far we've specialised in running restaurants in nice towns outside London and we know what we're doing there. This will be a bit different but we're very much looking forward to catering for the people in the city," he said.
John Lederer, managing director of Brasserie Blanc added: "We are delighted that our first restaurant in London should be in such a prestigious building and location and look forward to introducing our City customers to the Brasserie Blanc offer which has proved so popular outside London”
Agents Twentyretail, who found the stock exchance site for Brasserie Blanc, founded by chef Raymond Blanc, said they were currenlty looking for more sites in London and elsewhere for the operator, but Glyn said it was more likely that there would be 'one or two' new sites opening outside London this year rather than others in it.
Raymond Blanc appointment
Separately, Raymond Blanc has appointed his former apprentice Mark Peregrine as head tutor of The Raymond Blanc Cookery School.
Peregrine began his career as an apprentice at Blanc's Les Quat'Saisons in 1973 before working as a chef in France.
Since then he has worked as chef lecturer at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School and run his own patisserie The Pastry Shop in London.
Blanc said: "It is wonderful to welcome him back to the Raymond Blanc Cookery School as a new leader. After 30 years the passion and vision is still there more than ever.”
