Harbour Hotels to reopen Devon's Marine Hotel

The Marine Hotel in Devon has been acquired by the Harbour Hotels Group, and following an extended period of closure, will reopen in March as a four-star hotel

The Marine Hotel in Devon has been acquired by the Harbour Hotels Group, and following an extended period of closure, will reopen in March as a four-star hotel.

The 53-bedroom hotel, now named The Salcombe Harbour Hotel, was previously owned by property developers Benton Property Holdings and has been closed for the past 12 months.

Mark Godfrey, managing director of Harbour Hotels, said upon its opening on 29 March, the Salcombe Harbour Hotel would create 50 new jobs, rising to 70 during peak months.

“There will be a substantial number of full time jobs created which will be a great boost to the local community and we hope to bring a lot of visitors into the town which can only mean good news for local businesses,” he said.

The hotel features an air-conditioned fitness suite, spa and swimming pool, while the Salcombe Restaurant and Bar will serve a local and seasonal menu featuring a range of Devon seafood and meats.

It joins the Christchurch Harbour Hotel and Kings Hotel in Dorset, both of which contain restaurants operated by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes, the Porthminster Hotel in Cornwall, the Westcliff Hotel in Devon and wedding venue Northbrook Park in Farnham, Surrey as the Harbour group’s sixth property.
