Serviced apartments operator Frasers Hospitality has opened its first boutique hotel in a former newspaper office in the centre of Edinburgh.
The 75-bedroom Fraser Suites Edinburgh is housed in the former Edinburgh Courant building in St Giles Street, just off the Royal Mile and is the first time Frasers Hospitality, which runs serviced residences in the UK, Asia, the Middle East and Australia, has ventured into the boutique hotel arena.
Heather Gilchrist, regional general manager for Frasers Hospitality Scotland, said: "Fraser Suites Edinburgh is a landmark development, not just for Frasers Hospitality, but for Edinburgh as a whole.
"We have gone to great lengths to preserve and reinvent this fantastic building, retaining the original features, including high ceilings and ornate cornicing, and carefully blending these with contemporary designs and finishes."
Although Fraser Suites Edinburgh is classed as a hotel, guests will be able to rent rooms for a long period as they would with a serviced apartment. All 75 rooms have been kitted out with kitchen facilities such as microwaves and fridges and there are seven different types of rooms, from classic bedrooms to themed suites.
“We are offering guests something very different to what they experience in other Edinburgh hotels - luxurious bedrooms with addition of the facilities of a serviced residence," said Gilchrist.
“It means guests, especially long-stay visitors, get the best of both worlds – they can enjoy the services of a top class hotel while making their stay a home from home.”
The hotel also includes an on-site restaurant and gym.
