The unroasted green beans used in Nescafe Green Blend are naturally rich in polyphenol antioxidants, which can help protect the body from day-to-day damage, as well as maintain its defences against certain ageing processes.
Liz Read, Nestlé nutritionist, said that although all coffee contains a high level of antioxidants, Nescafe Green Blend contains more than usual.
“During the roasting process, some of the antioxidants in coffee beans are converted into antioxidants known as melanoidins,” she said. “A mixture of both types of antioxidants are present in all coffee and the amount present is dependent on the degree of roasting. Nescafe Green Blend has a high content of the naturally occurring polyphenol antioxidant due to the fact that it contains unroasted green coffee beans.”
Despite its obvious health benefits, the coffee still retains the same rich flavour and aroma synonymous with the Nescafe brand.
