AB Hotels to open boutique hotel in Marylebone

AB Hotels, operator of Sopwell House and Five Lakes hotels, unveils plans to open an 82-bedroom townhouse hotel in London next month

AB Hotels, operator of Sopwell House in Hertfordshire and Five Lakes in Essex, will open an 82-bedroom boutique townhouse hotel in Great Cumberland Place at Marylebone, London next month.

The Arch, made up of seven Georgian townhouses and two mews homes and designed by RDD Interior Architectural Design, will include Hunter 486, a 30-cover bar and 25-cover restaurant overseen by the Gorgeous Group.

Beccy Gunn, formerly of The Franklin and Firmdale Hotels in London, has been appointed the hotel's general manager while Shane Pearson, who has worked at Soho House and the Electric Brasserie in London, will run the kitchen's restaurant as head chef. Alastair Burgess, ex-bartender at Pégu Club in New York is head bartender.

“The Arch London provides an enviable central London location with first class service from our strong operations team, an outstanding food and drink offering and extensive facilities to visitors from the UK and overseas," said Gunn.

Guest rooms, including nine suites will be set over six floors and have been kitted out with Sky HD, CD/DVD players, iPod docking stations and complimentary wireless internet as well as Nespresso coffee machines.

Hunter 486 will serve British food from an open plan kitchen all day. Pearson has devised a menu using seasonal produce with dishes such as a signature fish pie, Scallop on Potato Crisp with Pea Puree and Slow Braised Lamb Shank starting at £6 for starters and £9 for mains.

The food and drink offering includes a 24-cover Martini library and a 32-cover Salon de Champagne.
