Legacy Hotels and Resorts is to operate its eighth property in Wales, the four-star Llangoed Hall Hotel in the Brecon Beacons.

Laura Ashley co-founder Sir Bernard Ashley owned the 23-bedroom hotel up until his death earlier this year. Now owned by his estate, the 17th Century country house hotel will be operated under the Legacy banner as the eighth Welsh hotel in its collection.

Andy Townsend, chief executive officer of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, said Llangoed Hall Hotel was ‘a real gem’ in the group’s portfolio.

“Since our arrival at the Llangoed Hall Hotel we have already been assessed by the AA and obtained four stars with an 85 per cent merit score and maintained the hotels two Rosettes for food which is a tremendous start,” he said. “The standard of the hotel, its location and facilities is one of the best in our UK-wide group and we are looking forward to improving the profile and profitability of this hotel.”

Legacy also manages The Cardiff International Hotel, which reopened earlier this month. The group also recently handed over the operation of The Royal Hotel in Cardiff to Bespoke Hotels when its management contract ended.
