IHG to open two new Hotel Indigos in UK

InterContinental Hotels Group signs deals to open hotels in Glasgow and Liverpool under its Hotel Indigo brand

InterContinental Hotels Group has announced plans to open hotels in Glasgow and Liverpool city centres under its newest brand Hotel Indigo.

The international hotel group, which started the global roll-out of the brand with the opening of Hotel Indigo Paddington in London in January, will open the 96-bedroom Glasgow hotel by mid-next year in a converted bank building and will be operated by Chardon Management.

The 151-bedroom Liverpool hotel will follow in spring 2011 and will be operated by Sanguine Hospitality.

Kirk Kinsell, IHG's president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "Now is an ideal time for us to continue to grow the Hotel Indigo brand across Europe. Signing these two new hotels in the current climate shows we have the right strategy for growing the brand.

"All Hotel Indigo properties are unique and designed specifically to reflect their location. Glasgow and Liverpool are exciting, vibrant cities and thriving tourist and business destinations that are a great match for the Hotel Indigo brand. We look forward to signing more Hotel Indigo properties in cities across Europe."

Hotel Indigo aims to give guests boutique hotel design within a large hotel group. So far IHG has signed another three properties in London - in Cannon Street, Philpot Lane and Kensington Church Street -  and is aiming to open 59 hotels worldwide under the brand.
