Ferran Adrià is launching a range of speciality oils this month at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair.
The chef proprietor of El Bulli, voted the world’s best restaurant for the third consecutive year by Restaurant magazine, has developed a range of artisanal oils under the Borges brand, which mirror the infused oils he uses in his restaurant.
Eight oils will be showcased at the fair, which runs from September 6-8 at London Olympia – the natural infusions of Fresh Rosemary, Fresh Basil, Fried Garlic, Black Olives, Chilli & Cardamom, Fresh Lemon Peel, Four Pepper and Soy & Ginger. Two additional flavours, Cinnamon Stick and Fresh Vanilla will launch next year.
"Famous chefs putting their names to retail products is not a new concept, but what is unique about this initiative is that these infusions replicate the oils that Ferran actually uses at El Bulli,” said Damon Le Geyt, managing director at distributor Watkins UK.
"Ferran Adrià is widely acknowledged as the world’s best chef, and while many consumers will know about El Bulli they have probably not had the opportunity to go there. This launch gives everyone the chance to experience a taste of El Bulli."
Adrià, whose restaurant is notoriously difficult to get a table at, has previously worked with brewer Estrella Damm on its Inedit beer, which he helped develop earlier this year.
