Children’s chopstick challenge
The Royal China Club on Baker Street, London will be giving free lessons in the art of using chopsticks to children next week to help parents entertain them during the summer holidays. The hourly lessons will run from August 24 to August 28 at 3.30pm. Complimentary dim sum will be provided to allow the children to practice their new skills, followed by a competition to test who has mastered the art of holding chopsticks. Afterwards, they can take their chopsticks home as a souvenir.
Royal Lancaster’s new name
The Royal Lancaster Hotel will be running a range of "9" themed offers on September 9 to celebrate its name change. From that date, the Hyde Park hotel will be known as Lancaster London to help identify it better with its location. From 9.09am, the hotel will be giving away nine chances of winning nine different rewards. To enter, guests must log on to the Lancaster London’s new website www.lancasterlondon.com and enter the promotional code “090909” when booking a stay to see if they’re a winner. The hotel is also treating taxis that pull up outside with a special gift for drivers to celebrate the renaming.
Looking the business
St James’s Hotel and Club in London is offering a “Businessman About Town” package offers to businessmen staying in the city. In partnership with nearby barbershop Gentleman’s Tonic, guests can enjoy a 90-minute massage with their overnight stay, returning to an ice-cold Martini and a full English breakfast the following morning at £309 pppn.
The secret garden
Meza is holding an indoor garden party inside its Soho restaurant atrium to celebrate its fifth birthday, until the end of September. Bringing the atmosphere of the outdoors inside, Meza are allowing customers to experience the indoor nature without having to worry about the unpredictable British weather. A summer menu will offer summer-themed food such as barbecue platters and cocktails.
