The Forbury Hotel’s executive chef, Daniel Galmiche, is to replace John Campbell at the two Michelin-starred Vineyard at Stockcross in October.

Galmiche will join the Berkshire hotel just as current executive chef John Campbell leaves to become director of cuisine, food and beverage at The Dorchester Collection’s new country house hotel, Coworth Park.

The French chef joins The Vineyard with almost 20 years experience heading Michelin-starred kitchens, including Harvey’s Restaurant in Bristol and Waldo’s at Cliveden in Berkshire, as well as overseeing the opening of Eden at The Forbury, which went into administration in March this year.

Andrew McKenzie, managing director of The Vineyard, said: “I was a regular at Harvey’s and have know Daniel for years and always loved his food – I have tried to work with him in the past but it didn’t work out until now so I am delighted to have him on board and look forward to him moving the Vineyard’s food offer onto even greater things.”

The Forbury administrators Baker Tilly have now accepted an offer for the 24-bedroom hotel, which is continuing to trade as normal, and expect a contract to be completed within the next few weeks.
