Heston Blumenthal to increase Fat Duck prices

Heston Blumenthal is planning a 30 per cent price hike for the Fat Duck.

The three Michelin star chef’s celebrated tasting menu is going up from £130 to £140 this week, but will eventually cost up to £170, making it the most expensive meal in the UK.

“It’s high because of the sheer investment in staff, produce and research,” said Blumenthal. “The costs associated with employing 45 chefs to cook for, on average, 42 covers a service are huge.”

The new tasting menu will feature established Fat Duck dishes alongside new creations, some of which have been developed through his Feast TV programme, including Chocolate Wine, an old Tudor recipe.

Last week Blumenthal put months of speculation to an end by confirming plans to open a 140-cover restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, although he denied that it would be another Fat Duck.
