Restaurateurs, hoteliers and publicans across the country have been working hard in the run up to Easter to come up with ways to help customers celebrate the festival. Here are a few of the things they`re offering this weekend.
Giant eggs
Marion Marceteau, the pastry chef at Kent brasserie, The Swan, has been asking customers to guess the weight of a giant chocolate egg she has created for an Easter competition. The egg, made from dark Valrhona chocolate, measures 75cm high and 45cm wide and took six hours to create. The person with the closest guess in grams wins the egg.
Cheep rooms
The Andaz Hotel at Liverpool Street, London, has been selling a limited number of rooms from March 10 for the price of an Easter egg. The rooms, for any night between April 10 and 14, were released for £2.75 per night excluding breakfast. The hotel will also be laying a gold egg in one of its 267 rooms allowing the person who finds it a complimentary night in a suite and dinner for two at the 1901 restaurant.†
Michelin-starred Easter
The Bath Priory, home to Michael Caines` Michelin-starred restaurant, The Priory, is running a special three-night package for the Easter weekend. The package includes dinner on two of the three nights at the restaurant, a spa treatment, homemade chocolate Easter egg and hot cross buns and spicy punch on arrival. An Easter egg hunt is also planned for the children. Prices start at £530 per person and £180 for children.
For the children
The Charles Lamb Pub in Islington is organising an Easter Egg Hunt in nearby gardens on Easter Sunday for under fives and their parents, while the R34 Restaurant and Cafe at India of Inchinnan in Glasgow has introduced a special family-focused menu for Easter Sunday and will give an Easter gift to every child dining there at the weekend.
The Chicago Rib Shack in Knightsbridge has brought in magicians, face painters and chocolate treats especially to entertain the children during the Easter holidays. And for the adults, the restaurant and bar also has a 2-for-1 offer on selected beers and cocktails from 4pm to 8m daily and has a new ‘pig’tastic’ menu featuring its Classic Rack of Ribs and a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sundae.
