The Dakota hotel, the Sherwood business park property in Nottingham formerly owned by Formula 1 driver David Coulthard, has been transformed into the first of 12 MourHotels to be launched in the next six months.
Described as a ‘more sensuous, flirtatious and personable experience,’ the MourHotels brand will be rolled out at an initial development cost of £120m to 12 strategic sites around London and main commercial centres across the UK.
The hotel chain will be aimed at ‘influential individuals’ that have a high expendable income in both the business and leisure sectors, with rooms being charged at an average rate of £79 prpn.
Russell Allen, chairman of MourHotel, said: “Our current development focus is to take advantage of the current economic climate and the woes of developers to assemble the initial sites. Each hotel will feature between 120 and 150 rooms, a destination restaurant, grill and bar, and will be unique with its own signature scent, music and atmosphere yet harmonious with our brand name.
“MourHotel is particularly favourable from a planning perspective insofar that we provide full-service elements in our hotels. As such new-build developments are preferable but for the right site close to arterial routes, airports, city centres or business parks we would certainly consider a conversion project.”
MourHotels will also host live music weekends and an art gallery in each hotel that will host regular events.
