3663 using waste cooking oil to power trucks
Foodservice operator 3663 will now be powering three-quarters of its trucks with a biofuel mix obtained from restaurants’ and suppliers’ used vegetable oil.
Despite having implemented the oil conversion programme two years ago, where waste oil is collected by independent company Arrow and reprocessed into biofuel by Convert2Green, 3663 have only recently had the response from its clients to step the operation up to cover 75 per cent of its fleet.
Graham Rennie, director of fleet for 3663, said: “This will allow us to supply customers across the UK with a more sustainable delivery service. The programme has removed 3663 from the food versus fuel debate because we convert waste vegetable oil from our customers and suppliers.”
Convert2Green has estimated the partnership with 3663 has reduced the foodservice company’s CO2 emissions by over 10,000 tons. 3663 will this month begin fuelling its trucks at Edinburgh, Abingdon, Harlow, Gateshead and Salisbury, before those at Basingstoke, Lee Mill, Severn Bridge and Worthing get the same treatment in April.
