Furniture, crockery and other goods from Flash, the temporary restaurant set up by the team behind Reindeer and the east London restaurant Bistrotheque, will go on sale next week as the restaurant closes for business.
This is the last week of trade for the temporary restaurant, set up within the Royal Academy of Arts in London for 11 weeks and the team has said ‘everything must go’.
Restaurateur Pablo Flack (pictured with head chef Tom Collins and David Waddington), who came up with the idea for Flash, said most of the furniture and equipment, including 20 tables, catering tables and a double-fronted wine fridge, could appeal to new restaurateurs or those wanting to expand their existing business.
He told BigHospitality: “We can’t take the stuff with us and it would cost us a lot to sell elsewhere, so we’re having a last day sale. It would be much cheaper than if you were buying them in the shops and they would be ideal for people setting up a restaurant.”
As well as the furniture and equipment, art work made especially for the restaurant and the packing crates that formed the walls will all be on sale.
“People will be able to get a bargain. We did this with Reindeer and it worked really well.”
Flack, who set up Bistrotheque with Waddington in 2004 and ran Reindeer in the weeks before Christmas 2007, said he was pleased with the way Flash had operated over the past 11 weeks and couldn`t rule out setting up another temporary restaurant in the future.
He said: “We have learnt at lot from Flash and it has certainly helped build our profiles as restaurateurs.
“We are known for doing them and they are a part of our business in a way, but they depend on finding a space that works and that doesn`t happen very often."
Flash’s contents sale will take place on Monday January 19 from 3pm to 10pm at Flash at GSK Contemporary, Royal Academy of Arts, 6 Burlington Gardens, London.
Goods on sale include:
- 20 tables for £20 each
- Designer chairs, originally £180, for £60 each
- Catering tables, originally £90 on sale for £5 each
- Double-fronted wine fridge: £150
