WEST Brewery, Bar and Restaurant has appointed German Head Chef Ruedi Hein (pictured right) to produce the authentic Bavarian food the establishment is famous for.
Already producing their beers in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, the German Purity Law of 1516, WEST hopes Hein’s addition to the team will reinforce its reputation as the leading German bar/restaurant in Scotland through its new Franconian menu.
Petra Wetzel, Owner of WEST, said: “This appointment is a key ingredient in the ongoing development of turning WEST into the best place for beer and food in the UK. Ruedi’s appointment brings to a conclusion an extensive search for a great German chef able to produce the kind of authentic Bavarian food that just cannot be found anywhere else in Scotland.”
Hein trained in Wuerzburg in Northern Franconia, and joins WEST from The Anchorage Restaurant in Mull.
Meanwhile, the InterContinental hotel on Park Lane has appointed Alvaro Rey as General Manager. He joins the team in January from his post as GM at the InterContinental in Sydney, although he has been a part of the IHG team for over 25 years.
Having trained at the Les Roches hotel school in Switzerland, Rey is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and will also be joined at the Park Lane hotel by his family come January.
