New Rational oven tells chefs when to clean it

Rational installs a new self-cleaning mechanism into its SelfCooking Centers which tells chefs when it needs to be cleaned

Rational is making it easier for chefs to know when their oven needs cleaning with the introduction of CareControl.

The new system has been applied to all new SelfCooking Centers and is expected to save space, cut running costs and help protect the environment.

New technology enables the oven to monitor what is being cooked and for how long which means it knows when the unit needs to be cleaned.

Staff put biodegradable “care tabs” into the oven’s drawer before putting it on to clean itself.

“It’s very easy and safe to use, said Rational UK Managing Director Vic Brown, “technology also eliminates the need for water filters or softeners to be used, which can save about £700 a year.”

The new system has been trialled by Alan Bird, Head Chef at the Ivy (pictured) for the past year, who says a major benefit has been that he has not had to install a water filter for the oven during that time.

He said: “When it comes to cleaning, the SelfCooking Center even detects the level of soiling and suggests the optimum automatic cleaning level. The CareControl’s intelligent cleaning and care system has significantly reduced our running costs for chemicals, water and energy. Having no water filter saves space and money, too.”

SelfCooking Centers with CareControl come with a two-year guarantee.
