Guoman Hotels launches new staff training academy
The London-based hotel group invested £300k in new Food and Beverage Academy to train old and new staff

Guoman Hotels have invested more than £300k into a new Food and Beverage Academy as part of their on-going training and development strategy.

The central London hotel group, comprising of The Cumberland, Charing Cross and The Tower, will expect all existing staff to receive hands-on training across all levels of expertise, from wine and spirit training to lessons on seasonality. Guoman will also give new staff a four-day induction upon arrival.

Food & Beverage Academy manager, Sarah Williams, commented: “The Academy will offer our staff specialist training to evoke their passion for service and product. It is our objective to focus on staff growth and development to enable them to provide each guest with a positive, superior experience during their stay.”

The Academy will focus on three levels of training, from a range of introductory sessions aimed at inexperienced and new members of staff, up to specialised product training and leadership development. Through a series of classes and hands-on training, Guoman aim to provide their staff with the knowledge and confidence to plan their individual career development.

The Food and Beverage Academy joins Guomans existing Front Office Academy and Meetings and Events Academy, to provide staff with training opportunities in their chosen area of hospitality.

While their current portfolio spans just three hotels, Guoman has also announced that The Royal Horseguards, The Grosvenor (previously Thistle Victoria) and Thistle Marble Arch will all soon operate under the Guoman brand following over £150m of investments.
