Independent hotel group Dhillon Hotels has re-opened country house hotel Stoke Place in Buckinghamshire following an extensive refurbishment.
The Queen Anne manor house in Stoke Poges now has 29 bedrooms and a dedicated wing for events as well as the Vyse Room, a 50-cover restaurant (pictured below) run by Operations Manager Richard Hamblin.
Head Chef Mark Bentley, former Head Chef at The Hinds Head in Bray, has created an English menu with the help of Will Beckett and Huw Gott from Underdog Consultancy, whose cocktail "supremo" Nick Strangeway has been in charge of the drinks list.
The restaurant uses locally sourced food: Beef is supplied by The Fine Beef Company, who rear rare breed cattle such as White Parks and Dexters and vegetables come from Peter Clarke`s Kingcup Farm in Denham.
Bentley is also planning to use herbs and salad leaves from Stoke Place’s original Victorian walled kitchen garden, which is currently being replanted.
“With such a strong team and an original offering not normally seen in this kind of setting, The Vyse Room is sure to be a huge hit, both with the local market and the wealth of foodies and weekenders keen to escape to the country with the guarantee of some fine, unfussy British cooking on the menu during their stay,” said a spokesperson.
Stoke Place is the sixth hotel to be opened by Dhillon Hotels. The group also owns The Paragon Hotel in Birmingham, The Crown in Old Amersham, The Liongate Hotel at Hampton Court, The Old Bell in Hurley and The Kings Hotel in Stokenchurch.
