New frozen yogurt brand hits UK and opens outlet in Kingston

While the UK are becoming increasingly health-conscious, gourmet frozen yogurt brand, YOGO, have opened their first outlet in Kingston-on-Thames, serving the low-fat, sin-free alternative to ice-cream.

Frozen yogurt has been a craze in the US since time began, with celebrities constantly being snapped eating the stuff while on the go. However, after research suggested that some other major brands was not as healthy as one would expect, YOGO Founders, Nick Jacques and Simon Ogborn, set out to create a healthier treat.

“We loved the concept of frozen yogurt but we wanted to do it better over here,” Nick enthused. “We`ve been inspired by people like Jamie Oliver who has been championing the move towards healthier eating, particularly in children. We wanted to develop a product that really is healthy - and one that would also offer a more ethical experience!"

YOGO contains just 93 calories per 100g, and less than 1g of fat, but that’s before you add the toppings, which can include naughty treats such as chocolate chips and chocolate sauce, but also a wide range of fruit, such as strawberries, kiwi, mango, banana and pear.

The product is also free from artificial colourings and preservatives, and is completely natural. The company also operate an environmentally friendly policy, using only biodegradable cleaning products, packaging and cutlery, and organic, fairtrade teas.

YOGO have aimed to create a coffee shop experience, replacing traditional cakes and biscuits for a healthier alternative. The flagship store opened last week in Apple Market, Kingston-on-Thames.
