Swiss Veggie Restaurant Tibits to Open in London

All-day vegetarian self-service restaurant bar and take-away to open its first UK branch just off Regent Street in the West End of London.

Vegetarian Swiss restaurant concept Tibits is to open its first UK branch off Regent Street in central London.

The all day vegetarian self-service restaurant bar and take-away was launched in Zurich in 2000 and has since opened sites in other Swiss cities Winterthur, Berne and Basel. In these sites 90 per cent of customers are non-vegetarian.

Tibits is expected to open in August in the former Gabrielle’s restaurant site in Heddon Street. Tricia Guild of London’s Designer Guild is designing the wallpapers and textiles.

Landlord The Crown Estate’s David Shaw said: “It is fantastic to be able to welcome Tibits to the Regent Street food quarter.

"We believe they will add a new dimension to the existing catering offer and hope that they will soon firmly establish themselves as another reason to come and spend time in Heddon Street.”

Davis Coffer Lyons acted as joint agents (with CBRE) for The Crown Estate. DCL’s Tracey Mills added, “Tibits taps right into the current trends for healthy yet tasty food, delivered in a stylish environment, and will have great appeal to both the local and an international audience.”

Tibits is a family business created by three brothers – Reto, Christian and Daniel Frei and in conjunction with Hiltl, Europe’s first vegetarian restaurant founded in 1898.
