Meal Auction Site to Launch in Capital

Website offering diners the opportunity to bid for meals is coming from Scotland, and providing restaurateurs with a new way to promote themselves

INNOVATIVE restaurant auction site priceyourmeal.com, is set to launch a London version of its popular Scottish site this month.

The website has been operating for a year and a half, and so far has hosted around 100,000 auctions – a figure it aims to double over the next 12 months. The premise of the site is that customers can eat better value menus, and restaurants are able to promote themselves and offer deals in an interesting way.

“Price Your Meal is basically free advertising for restaurants, it’s dynamically ordered so it doesn’t matter if your restaurant begins with Z, you will still get to appear at the top of lists sorted by auction closing dates” explains MD Sukhvir Dhillon. “Restaurants are exposed to more customers, and are able to fill their more quiet periods without resorting to standard promotions” he said.

Users will be able to log in to auctions and bid for meals in a selection of the capital’s destination restaurants, allowing diners with smaller budgets to get a taste of some of the things going on at the peak of London’s dining scene.

Restaurants are able to set starting prices and reserves, and add and remove auctions as they wish, offering deals that give customers a much clearer idea of what they will spend than 2 for 1 type offers.

An interactive dimension has been added for the London launch will allows users to upload photo’s and reviews, and create events where they and their friends can discuss where to go and debate offers.

The average meal saving has been an impressive 50%.
