Fine dining Nottingham favourite picks up top prize again

World Service in Nottingham has reclaimed the title of Nottingham Restaurant of the Year in the 2007 awards.

The restaurant, in Nottingham's Lace Market, won the award in three consecutive years from 2003-2005, losing the title to Hart's last year.

World Service also picked up the Outstanding Service Award at the ceremony, held at Colwick Hall just outside of Nottingham.

The restaurants were voted for by the public in April with the top three or four restaurants then visited anonymously by judges in May. Young Chef of the Year was won by Tony Griffiths at Bluu with Lamb Shank and Seasonal Spring Vegetables, and Lemon Tart in a two hour cook-off.

One of the award judges, Bill Knott, a food and drink writer, said, "It is enormously gratifying to find, in Nottingham, not just branches of London-based chain restaurants, but a genuine culture of independence and excellence."
