Tokyo opening marks the first of many restaurants planned to ‘inject something different' into the Japanese dining scene

D&D London has opened its first restaurant in Japan, called Botanica, in partnership with Japanese restaurant group Hiramatsu. This marks the beginning of a plan to open eight to ten D&D restaurants in Japan over the next few years.

Botanica has opened in the Tokyo Midtown building in the city's Roppongi district and offers al fresco dining in a Keiko Yoshidadesigned garden terrace.

The interior was designed by Conran & Partners. A deli called Noodle Workshop has opened in the same building.

A second D&D restaurant, Iconic, will open in the Ginza district next week. It will be split into four areas: a restaurant, the Plaza Bar, a function room and private dining rooms.

D&D Chairman and CEO Des Gunewardena said, "These projects have been in development for a number of years and it is very exciting to see them come to fruition.

Working with Hiramatsu has enabled us to create restaurants which we think are sympathetic to the Japanese market, while at the same time injecting something quite different into the Toyko restaurant scene."
