The 200-cover restaurant and bar was previously known as First Street Bar & Kitchen but is now called Gino D’Acampo Manchester following a £800,000 refurbishment.
Officially opening today (13 February) the restaurant has its own entrance on First Street and joins the TV chef's venues in Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle and London.
D’Acampo previously operated two Manchester restaurants under the Gino brand in partnership with Individual Restaurants Group, at the Corn Exchange and inside Next at Manchester Arndale Centre, but they have since been rebranded under the Riva Blu and Piccolo by Piccolino Italian restaurant brands.
Gino D’Acampo Manchester serves a menu separated into 11 sections – bread and olives; sharing plates; bruschetta and antipasti; carpaccio and tartare; salads; pasta and risotto; Neapolitan pizza; classic Italian mains plates, steaks, and a speciality grill.
The restaurant serves a number of newly-introduced ‘at-table’ dishes, including baked whole seabass in a thyme-flavoured salt crust that is flamed with grappa at the table; and spaghetti al tartufo served from a pecorino wheel at the table.
Other signature dishes include linguine seafood, super spicey pizza, and filetto al pepe nero.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to unveil my beautiful new restaurant here in the heart of Manchester. It’s no secret I have a real love for the city and I’m super excited to open with my most exciting menu to date,” says D’Acampo.
“Featuring real Italian dishes, all cooked from scratch and using the very best seasonal ingredients, Gino D’Acampo Manchester offers real Italian food as it should be.”
The Gino D’Acampo restaurants brand part of Upmarket Leisure, whose collection of restaurants and bars includes Luciano by Gino D’Acampo, Gino D’Acampo, 360 Sky Bar, and London’s Radio Rooftop and Marconi Bar, within hotel ME London.
A further three UK destinations are planned for 2024.
