London-based cocktail bar and restaurant operator The Breakfast Group will launch a bar inspired by co-founder Eric Yu’s memories of growing up in Hong Kong late next month.

In Fitzrovia, Lucy Wong is also being billed as a tribute to the 1957 novel The World of Suzie Wong by Richard Mason, love story set in 1950s Hong Kong.

The bar programme is being overseen by high-profile mixologist Dré Masso, who has worked at a number of top bars around the world including The Breakfast Group’s own Opium Cocktail Bar & Dim Sum Parlour, which is currently ranked 17 on the Top 50 Cocktail Bars list.

Masso’s list will change regularly and will be ‘inspired by old classics with an inventive Asian twist’. Example drinks include Shanghai 75, Cherry Blossom Manhattan and Dragon Old Fashioned.

The menu at Lucy Wong will be Cantonese with a focus on roasted meats and dim sum platters.

The Breakfast Group was founded in 1991 by Yu and Connie O’Donovan with Villa Stefano in Holborn.

Current sites include Martinez Member’s Cocktail Lounge in Soho; Salvador & Amanda in Covent Garden; and The Last Talisman in Bermondsey.
