Geronimo Inns has sold one of its 21 food-led pubs to Hertfordshire pub operator and brewer McMullen`s.
The freehold of the 120 cover Bullfinch (pictured) in Riverhead, near Sevenoaks in Kent, was sold for an undisclosed sum to McMullen`s through Christie & Co.
Geronimo, which also owns the Surrey-based Red Barn in Lingfield, the Black Swan in Ockham, and the recently opened Betjeman Arms at St Pancras International station, made the decision to sell to focus on its remaining sites.
Managing director Rupert Clevely said: "We plan to re-invest the funds from the sale across our existing estate and towards the continuing expansion of the Geronimo business.”
Neil Morgan, director and head of pubs at Christie & Co, said: “This is a perfect example of how in the current climate regional brewers are able take advantage of the lack of competition from major chains, to increase their freehold estates through the acquisition of quality sites in good locations.”
